Okay, Jaycie is not one to brag, so I have to take this opportunity to brag on her myself. As most of you know, Jaycie is not very adventurous when it comes to eating or trying new things. Well, a trip to China will test the most picky eater, and she has done very well. She has gone to Pizza Hut and McDonalds a couple of times each, and that has been a huge blessing. Other times, though, she has gotten by on a jar of peanut butter (3/5 gone now) and granola bars. Breakfast every day has been good as the hotels have bacon, fruit, and french toast. We usually have snagged some extra bread to make a peanut butter sandwich, and that has helped. She has learned to like the noodles they serve with the meals we have eaten, and even can eat them with chopsticks.
Aside from the food issues, this trip has been a challenge. We have changed many time zones and taken four planes so far. She has had to sit while we do paperwork, and she has had to sit on long bus rides for sightseeing trips that she wasn't interested in. She even had to deal with walking through crowded intersections without getting hit by a taxicab. But the biggest thing has been her adjustment to being a big sister. She has worked so hard to help Hannah adjust to being a part of our family, and is always going out of her way to help keep Hannah happy. She helps change diapers, and she entertains her little sister when she is upset. It hasn't always been easy, but she has been a great traveller and a wonderful daughter.
We feel like we are in the home stretch here. There is more American style food in Guangzhou, and Jaycie has a new friend her age to play with. To top it all off, there is a store that sells peanut butter, just in case we run out. She has made her parents very proud, and we are so thankful that we made the decision to bring her. We don't know what it would have been like to spend so much time and learn so much without experiencing it as a whole family.I just wanted you to know how proud we are of Jaycie and how well she has done under difficult circumstances. She is having a good time, but she misses her friends and her home. Fortunately we will be coming home soon. See you then.
